While I've never considered myself good at drawing, digital illustrations have been a great way to display the talents that I do have. I'm great with computer programs of all kinds, even with little experience. The images here were all made on Adobe Illustrator for several assignments in my college courses. This first image showcases the principles of different color palettes being utilized in abstract imagery made purely with geometric shapes.
For this assignment, I was tasked with recreating an image of a celebrity using only flat geometric shapes. I chose Chappell Roan because she has such an iconic look about her and any image of her was bound to have plenty of color to work with. This was one of my favorite assignments I've ever done and have even started making images like this in my free time for fun.
For this assignment, we had to create a movie poster, but make it minimalist. Minimal color, minimal text, and minimal design. For the silhouettes, I took a promotional image of the Cheetah Girls and traced over each character's outline individually to recreate their recognizable shapes, but without any real texture or additional color.
While it may seem simple, this assignment was to follow a tutorial step-by-step and recreate the design of this poster. Each shape in the image was drawn using the tools in Illustrator and edited each step of the way in order to achieve the final outcome.
